From its earliest days Wright Solicitors Motherwell has been deeply involved with the local community, providing a personal legal service not only to its many private clients but also to the local and the wider business community.
The firm was the local agent for both the Clydesdale Bank and Leeds Permanent Building Society until their own branch networks were set up and our founding partner, Alex L Wright, was the Motherwell Burgh Fiscal for many years. In earlier years the firm’s partners were responsible for setting up many local businesses some of which would later become household names on a national scale. This was to include establishing connections on the international stage with the early cinema industry, one of the partners playing host on visits to Motherwell of many well known figures in the cinema world including Charlie Chaplin and Cecil B. De Mille. Wrights also developed wide ranging connections with the motor trade, acting for many of what were to become the largest retail motor dealers in the UK, a connection with the automotive industry which is maintained to this day.
Wrights continues to serve a wide range of private and corporate clients, providing all with the same high level of service and being ever conscious in these changing times of the importance of maintaining our local roots and the caring, personal service we provide to our many clients. In more recent times we have expanded our practice area into the upper wards of Lanarkshire and the Borders where we offer the same high levels of personal service to the local communities and the vital agricultural industry located there.
At this time of unprecedented disruption, we want to pass on a personal note as we all face the effects of Coronavirus (Covid-19). It is inevitable that we will all be affected to some extent, whether it is our businesses or our own people and families.
As far as possible we aim to continue to serve and assist you with any legal matters on which you require assistance, whether it is to buy or sell property, family law, administration of estates, planning and development matters or corporate law and to assist you to run your personal life and business life as normal. We have in place the systems to allow all of us to work remotely from home should we be prevented from getting into the office for any reason. At present it is business as usual here although we are reducing/eliminating non-essential meetings.
Much can be handled electronically and we can all access email remotely. If we cannot be contacted by phone you should email us giving a note of your contact number(s) and we will call you back. Our addresses are:-
